Since 2024, the domestic energy storage market has maintained a strong growth momentum. One of the most obvious trends is that the 300Ah+ high-capacity storage battery with 314Ah as the main capacity is gradually replacing the 280Ah battery as the "new mainstream".
Currently, the penetration rate of 300Ah+ energy storage cells in the market has reached about 30%. In the industry chain research organized by the Power Battery Application Branch, some battery manufacturers also expressed that "the penetration rate of 314Ah energy storage cells has exceeded 35%," and there are even leading system integrators who claim that the usage rate of their 314Ah cells has reached 80%.
From the perspective of the bidding market, many leading battery manufacturers have stated that "currently over 90% of battery companies will bid for projects using 300Ah+ battery cells"; at the same time, in the collective procurement requirements of state-owned enterprises and other owners, multiple projects stipulate the use of 314Ah battery cells.
From the perspective of companies that have the ability to mass-produce battery cells with a capacity of 300Ah or more, so far, only more than 10 battery manufacturers including CATL, AESC,REPT, EVE Energy, Ganfeng Lithium, Penghui Energy, Lishen Battery, Hithium and Far East Battery have the mass production capability. To some extent, this concentration of top-tier battery manufacturers has made winning bidders more likely to choose from a smaller pool of companies.
Even though mass production has been achieved, some manufacturers' 300Ah+ cells still perform less stable than their 280Ah counterparts. The capacity of the system deteriorates significantly after a certain number of cycles, therefore, there is still room for improvement in the technology and process of large capacity cells for some battery manufacturers.
